Planning Storyboard for my 7 Years Music Video

Image
Scene 1: This first scene will be pretty basic. there is a bit of an instrumental at the beginning of the song so I decided to just add a panel to introduce the song with the name of the song and artist in it. This will be shot in my living room. Scene 2: The first line of the song talks about how at seven years old, Lukas was told to go make some friends. so for this scene, my sister will be dressed as the mother while gesturing to my youngest brother to go make friends. Scene 3: In this scene, my brother will be thinking about how it would feel to be lonely after hearing what "mom" had to say. Scene 4: This scene will show my brother actually trying to find new friends through an online app which I will be putting together. Scene 5: For this scene, I decided to take a video of the sky because the line of the song talks about the world being big. Scene 6: Then the next line of the song says that they thought they were bigger than the world. so for this scene, I decided to ...

Music Video Planning Blog

Based on the music videoes that I have watched and my song selection, I will be using my brothers for the filming process. in the song for the time I will be filming for, the artist talks about a seven-year-old and an 11-year-old. I will be using My youngest brother as the seven-year-old for the beginning scene. My other brother will be the "daddy" in the video but his back will be turned to the camera. This would make it so that it's not obvious that he is young. I will be putting my brother in my actual dad's clothing to make it obvious that he is playing the adult.  Then I will switch to my other brother playing the 11-year-old for the last few scenes. In this scene, he will be talking to his "mother" who will be played by my sister. Her back will also be turned to the camera to hide that she isn't actually an adult. However, I might show the side of her face and give her a few accessories to make it easier to tell that she is the mother. Since my mo...

Music Video Research Blog

Image
When I had to research for my music video, it only made sense to watch other music videos of the same artist. I also decided to look up music videos from other artists that had the same music genre. I just focused on the relation the video had with the song and how it expresses the lyrics.  Some of the things that I took into consideration was the setting, the people, and the emotion that was shown in the videos. Likas Garahm based his music videos in what seemed to be small neighborhoods. I noticed that in his lyrics, he talked a lot about childhood as well as family and just life in general. So it made sense to set his videos in neighborhoods. His music videos definitely tell a story and aren't just random scenes that have nothing to do with the song. All of his videos that I've seen have him in them but they mainly focus on others for a story. For example, one of his music videos focuses on a young couple with struggles. The video shows their story and their overcoming th...

Introduction to the Music Video Project

Image
For this music video, I will be using the song Seven Years by Lucas Graham. I decided to do this song because of all the songs I could think about at the moment, it was the only one that I could get the most scenes out of. I didn't want to choose a song that had a line that I wouldn't be able to reflect in my video.  I will be working alone on this project because I don't really know anyone in my AS level media studies class that I could be in contact with. Even if I could contact them, scheduling meetups for all filming days would be a hassle. Also, I feel like I cant really rely on someone to shoot scenes and send them to me. Other than those reasons, I also have to take the settings into consideration. For example, if a scene was of two people having a dialogue that is supposed to be face to face, it would be weird if the settings of the two people were different from each other. Moreover, I wouldn't like to wait for someone else to play their part when it comes to...

Toyota Commercial

Image
This was my first major project, not only for this class but for all of the classes I have ever taken. Through the whole thing, there were a lot of changes that were made. It was a really good experience because I learned how to use different software and apps to get the results that I was most happy with. There are a few things that could use some improvement in this project. However, I feel like the ability to make those qualities better also has to do with the resources that I have. While researching and editing, it was a little difficult to find apps and websites that didn't require payments or subscriptions, so instead of directly searching for apps, I went on youtube and websites that listed free apps that I could use. There were a lot of clips that I mentioned I was going to use From my planning blog all the way to my editing blog. However, when I really started to add final touches to the whole commercial, I felt like there wasn't enough of the car and that seeing peopl...

Editing my Toyota Commercial

Image
When I started editing, I used Clipchamp. First , I had to gather all of my scenes together. I didn't film all of the scenes in order so it took a little time to place them the way they were supposed to go. Then I cut out excess parts of the video that weren't needed and unnecessary. I muted the sounds from the clips I took except for when the engine was starting. Instead of a voice-over, I added words onto the screen to explain all of the features. most of the scenes didn't require any sound, but I went on youtube to get a sound for the car driving off into the distance. I wasn't able to use the actual sound because it was very windy on the day that I filmed that shot, so I had to cut out the sound. For the opening scene, I uploaded the video of the 360 views of the car onto removebg for the scene to just have the car and nothing else in the background. The website could only get rid of the background for 5 seconds, so I downloaded an app on my phone to speed up the ...

Filming Toyota Commercial Blog

Image
I started filming this blog on Friday, October 30th, 2020 when my mother and I went out. I figured that since we were taking the car, I could use that chance to film some of the interior features of the car that would be showcased. Because I needed my dad for most of the other shots, I waited till the weekend to continue the filming. That Sunday, on the 31st, I didn't have the chance to go out so I decided to film the 360 view of the car that would be used in the opening of the commercial. I used a long shot to show the entirety of the car exterior. I also filmed the scene that would come after the opening on that day. This scene was of my father putting a few things into the trunk of the car. On Sunday, my dad and I took a trip to the store. This was the perfect opportunity to film him getting into and starting the car. I used a mid-shot to a long shot for this scene because this shot was mainly just to introduce the car features and the whole body of the car didn't need to ...
