Music Video Research Blog

When I had to research for my music video, it only made sense to watch other music videos of the same artist. I also decided to look up music videos from other artists that had the same music genre. I just focused on the relation the video had with the song and how it expresses the lyrics.

Some of the things that I took into consideration was the setting, the people, and the emotion that was shown in the videos. Likas Garahm based his music videos in what seemed to be small neighborhoods. I noticed that in his lyrics, he talked a lot about childhood as well as family and just life in general. So it made sense to set his videos in neighborhoods. His music videos definitely tell a story and aren't just random scenes that have nothing to do with the song. All of his videos that I've seen have him in them but they mainly focus on others for a story. For example, one of his music videos focuses on a young couple with struggles. The video shows their story and their overcoming their problems, but at the same time, it switches to the artist singing.

Most of the time, there are scenes of just the area around Lukas Graham. It's almost like he is sharing an adventure. He also includes clips of his own past or recent trips and adventures. I think he does this to create a personal connection to his music. Then I also noticed that there were clips that may have been added to send a message in one of his videoes.

The message might not be clear or easy to understand but usually, the people watching can tell what it might mean by paying attention to the lyrics in that scene.

Then there are clips like these that just show people living their lives and him having fun. Looking at the clips alone without the lyrics would make it seem like a random shot that they wanted to put into the video, but then you listen to the lyrics that talk about sharing moments with loved ones the scene makes more sense.
