Introduction to the Music Video Project
For this music video, I will be using the song Seven Years by Lucas Graham. I decided to do this song because of all the songs I could think about at the moment, it was the only one that I could get the most scenes out of. I didn't want to choose a song that had a line that I wouldn't be able to reflect in my video.
I will be working alone on this project because I don't really know anyone in my AS level media studies class that I could be in contact with. Even if I could contact them, scheduling meetups for all filming days would be a hassle. Also, I feel like I cant really rely on someone to shoot scenes and send them to me. Other than those reasons, I also have to take the settings into consideration. For example, if a scene was of two people having a dialogue that is supposed to be face to face, it would be weird if the settings of the two people were different from each other. Moreover, I wouldn't like to wait for someone else to play their part when it comes to a project worth so many points.
Since the video is going to be one minute long, the first minute of the song also fits in really well. At the one minute mark of the song, there is actually a pause before the next line. I thought that it was the perfect place to cut the song off to end it. I made sure that the line I was stopping on wasn't awkward. This meant that no one would have to listen to the next line or the whole song to really piece the story together.
I don't think I'm going to stress over this project because I can already picture the scenes I want to film in my head. The lyrics of the song are easy to understand and it paints a clear picture of what is going on. Because thanksgiving break is coming up, I think I will be able to complete my filming during that time. Then when the break is over I figured that i could work on the editing. Between this project and the commercial project that we last filmed, I feel like this one is a bit easier because it already gives us something to work with. On the other hand, for the commercial project, while we did have knowledge of what that brand usually does to advertise, we still had to put our own way of advertising together from scratch.
