Production Blog


 Today, March 18, we met up to finally start filming. We initially decided that we were just going to film as much as possible for two hours. However, we decided that we would end up filming almost all of the scenes today. We started outside where Adriana, Jose, and Isabel would be walking up to their house. Then we shot all of the indoor scenes as it got darker outside so we could use the lighting. 

We spent about four hours filming all of the seams. There were a lot of lines that we had to change to fit the dynamic of each scene better. The layout of Isabellas house was different than what I pictured. So some of the scenes had to be rewritten or just cut out completely. Acting wasn’t much of a problem. Basic expressions were made and there is no need for excessive or exaggerated reactions.

Before we shot each scene we would do a read out of the script. Each person would be there line in order to make sure they had it ready, then we would film the scene. We also tried shooting some of the scenes at different angles each time.  We did this so that we wouldn’t have to cut the camera and switch angles before the next person starts their line. Instead while editing, we could cut and paste whatever part of the clips we wanted to use in the order we want them to be. 

The next day we have scheduled to film is next week Monday, March 22. It’s not finalized yet because Adriana is going out of town and she hast to check if Monday is available. But when we do end up meeting  again, we plan on doing re-shoots and may be a bit of editing. In the meantime we will be going over the scenes that we shot today and pick out the ones that could be re-filmed.

  I started filming this blog on Friday, October 30th, 2020 when my mother and I went out. I figured that since we were taking the car, I could use that chance to film some of the interior features of the car that would be showcased. Because I needed my dad for most of the other shots, I waited till the weekend to continue the filming. That Sunday, on the 31st, I didn't have the chance to go out so I decided to film the 360 view of the car that would be used in the opening of the commercial. I used a long shot to show the entirety of the car exterior. I also filmed the scene that would come after the opening on that day. This scene was of my father putting a few things into the trunk of the car. On Sunday, my dad and I took a trip to the store. This was the perfect opportunity to film him getting into and starting the car. Title Research: Glass

Art of the Title The opening sequence shows the production company in charge of the film. It shows the company that works with distributing the movie. Then it shows the title of the film. The film then starts to show the actors playing in the movie. The sequence then starts to name the people who helped cast the film, as well as the director. It showed who was in charge of music, costuming, editing, photography, then the producers.  The opening sequence starts off with a recap. this film is a sequel, so it begins by introducing the main character of the original. Later on, it introduces some of the other characters. It builds the moment by showing background events that lead to the appearance of the next potential main character.  The first clip of the man speaking to the girls can allow us to assume that the man has some sort of psychological disorder. Genre Research: Final Choice

  Out of all three of the genres chosen, we decided to finally go with Drama. The reason for this choice is that a drama is simply more flexible than the others. There are so many aspects to a film that can make it be considered as a drama. On the other hand, Horror and Comedy have a big more restraint. When making a horror film, there has to be some element that “scares” the audience. Whether it is actually scary or not isn’t the point, but whether it creates a chilling atmosphere. It just didn’t really seem to fit into the prompt of our short film. We don’t want the audience to be too distracted by “not getting scared” to the point where they miss the message we are trying to send. Comedy was a little more close than horror, but again, it didn’t seem to match our story. The main purpose of comedic films is to have the audience laughing.
