Toyota Research: Commercials, Conventions, and Codes

I will be working on a Toyota commercial. Usually, in Toyota ads, the audience may see the model car driving in different landscapes or weather conditions. There would be people driving or interacting with the car. They wear clothing that fits the environment of the car. For example, if the add is set driving through a snowy mountain, the people would wear coats or scarves. Some props used in a Toyota commercial included in Toyota commercials could be luggage or any item that could showcase the amount of space the car has as storage. Sometimes the car ad makes a transition from one scene without the car, to another that showcases the car. For example, a little kid could be playing with a toy car, which would also be a prop. Then the ad transitions to another scene with the same child, but grown-up and driving the same type of car he or she was playing with as a child.

To add volume to the advertisement, there could be music playing in the background. Depending on the mood of the ad, the music can be slow and serene when conveying an emotional connection, to fast-paced and energetic music when going for a fun-filled adventure route. There are also transitions to show different parts of the car. When a new model is released, the ad would have to introduce the new look and show people interacting with the features of the car. Transitions could also be used to show the different distances or landscapes the car can drive through best.

Toyota may also include deals or sales under certain conditions to grab the audience's attention. In the advertisements, they may use big and bold keywords or a narrator.  Other than these methods of marketing, there are also ads that incorporate pathos to appeal to the audience. For example, Toyota commercials being featured in award shows that are viewed worldwide. This allows their brand to connect with a large audience by engaging and building a connection with them.

Codes and conventions used in Toyota ads include the Toyota logo, as well as their slogan "Let's go places". Besides physically driving somewhere, this slogan conveys the meaning to take off on an adventure.
